- The diplomats’ study tour program, co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and local governments, has been held annually since 2010 to introduce diverse charms of Japan’s regions, such as local history, culture, tourism, specialties, and industries, to the diplomatic corps in Japan.
- This tour will be conducted in conjunction with the “World Nishikigoi Summit 2026,” scheduled for November 8. In addition to participating in the Summit, the diplomatic corps will visit various sites where they can experience the charm of Niigata, including the “Niigata Prefecture Nishikigoi Show” held in Ojiya City.
- The tour is expected to deepen the diplomatic corps' understanding of the diverse attractions of Niigata Prefecture, and to foster stronger ties between Niigata Prefecture, Nagaoka City and Ojiya City and the participating countries.
